Despite the somewhat depressing news for the video games industry as a whole, Microsoft was able the extract some positive out of it. According to Joystiq, Microsoft called its Xbox 360 the "industry's sole bright spot in 2009" as it is "the only console to show growth this year."
So far in 2009, compared to the same period in 2008, there has been 17 percent growth in sales for the Xbox 360.
